Borderstamp
Privacy policy
The short version
Borderstamp watches for border crossings using map data built into the app. It works out which country, state or county you're in on the device, and never sends your location anywhere.
Stays on your device
- Your location, at all times
- The places you've been, and when
- Your photos and their locations
Leaves your device
- Nothing. Your stamps sync only through your own private iCloud, if you use it.
What Borderstamp can access
Borderstamp only asks for access when it needs it, and works without any permission you decline. You can change these at any time in the Settings app under Privacy & Security (on a Mac, System Settings › Privacy & Security).
What leaves your device
Nothing. Borderstamp doesn't collect, transmit or sell any information. Xerodonia never receives any data about you or about how you use the app.
How Borderstamp handles your location
Borderstamp compares each location reading with map data stored inside the app, to work out which country, state, province or county you're in. That happens entirely on your device. Borderstamp keeps the places you've earned stamps for and when you earned them. It doesn't keep a trail of where you've been, and your location is never sent to us or to anyone else.
In-app purchases
If you buy extra stamp sets, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, and Borderstamp only records which sets you've unlocked.
iCloud sync
If you're signed in to iCloud, your stamps sync between your devices through your private iCloud database. That data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account, and Xerodonia can't see it. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Borderstamp in the Settings app.
What we never do
- Show ads, or share information with advertisers or data brokers.
- Track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Sell your information.
- Ask you to create an account.
Your choices and your data
Everything Borderstamp stores is kept on your device and, if you use it, in your private iCloud. Deleting the app deletes it.
Children
Borderstamp isn't directed at children under 13. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Borderstamp changes how it handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the new version is released, and mention the change in the release notes.
